The Trafford Centre is more than just a shopping centre; it offers opportunities for the formation of thriving partnerships.
The site covers 150 acres and consists of 118,000m² of retail and 30,000m² of catering and leisure space.
You will spend time looking at the environmental aspect of the centre, how it fits in with the local community, and what the company are doing to ensure it has a positive impact within the surrounding area.
Customer care has to be at the forefront of the management’s agenda, and you will be able to gain an insight into the day-to-day running of a large leisure and retail facility, as well as the marketing and PR strategies developed by the company.
There will be several presentations from key staff including the marketing, finance & education teams, as well as a full behind-the-scenes tour and CCTV visit.

Whitebeck Court Construction

Whitebeck Court is a 16 storey tower block, 44.2 metres tall, located in Charlestown, Manchester and constructed in 1967 as part of Manchester Corporation community Housing.

Wates Living Space through the IMPACT Manchester Framework are transforming the existing vacant tower block into a mixed tenure extra care scheme with communal facilities.  The scheme will consist of 92 one and two bed apartments which will be available for rent through Northwards Housing.

The ground floor of the building will accommodate a range of communal facilities known as the “Community Hub”.  These facilities will be available to both people living in the scheme and will also serve the wider community.  There are a number of general needs tower blocks catering for the over 50 in close proximity that will benefit from this new development.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to experience the transformation of the vacant tower block using modern design with up to date construction methods and materials.

Follow the process through from raw material to the final packaging. Look at the research and development areas where the laboratory services work closely with their customers to design products suitable for today’s rapidly changing consumer market.

Media City UK

Media City UK is one if the largest construction projects taking place outside the 2012 Olympics. Bovis Lend Lease are developing an initial 36 acre “city” to house creative and digital businesses. There will be two interactive workshops delivered by Bovis Lend Lease personnel focussing on the design and create aspects of the build, reinforcing how similar activities can be incorporated into the applied learning element of the C&BE Diploma.
Presentations will also be delivered by Bovis Lend Lese Senior Managers giving an overview of the project.

Slimbridge Wetlands Centre

This 1 day placement hosted by Slimbridge Wetlands Centre aims to show schools how they can get involved with many aspects of the curriculum in the form of taster sessions and hands on practical’s.  We will touch on subjects ranging from Biodiversity and habitats through to Photography and how Real Life Studies can be done here.  There are vast amounts of nature not only birds and ducks, but otters and Beavers too.  The centre has held Customer Service days for schools as well as practical field studies. The opportunities for schools are boundless….come and see for yourself.
