MANUFACTURING & PRODUCT DESIGN/CREATIVE MEDIA NETWORK

This professional development placement will give the opportunity to look at the latest technology being used in the printing industry. We will follow the design and plate making process through to the finished document. 

This placement will be held at Partners in Print, Venture Place, 45 Lord Street, Birmingham, which is off Dartmouth Circus (opposite Matalan and near the Campanile and Premier Inn hotels).
Partners in Print are a leading printing company, they offer commercial litho printing, digital printing and design services. They use the latest Mitsubishi press technology and Apple Mac computers.  The day will include a tour of the company and presentations by staff, followed by the opportunity to complete a design brief.
There will also be an update on relevant diploma developments and the opportunity to share good practice. This placement carries certification from the Royal Academy of Engineering and the National EBP Network. Lunch and refreshments will be provided by Sandwell EBP. There is no cost to attend this day.

This Professional Development Opportunity gives you the chance to develop Employer Engagement and meet with Engineers working at RAF Museum Cosford, to view the collection, to talk to Education Staff about your specific curricula needs find out about what is currently offered through the museums onsite and outreach facilities PLUS ways to link to the new Diplomas.

RAF Cosford houses one of the largest aviation collections in the UK and one of the world's most comprehensive missile collections. You can examine more than forty different aeroplane engines, from the rotary used in early biplanes, to the jet engine which powers the modern Eurofighter.
The impressive new hangar has a wow! factor for Construction, Engineering, and Manufacturing and Design students.  Its unique shape and construction material was designed specifically to house the collection and can be seen from the Space Shuttle.  Situated alongside WW2 hangars it provides a startling comparison of architectural advancement.


It is hoped the day will include a visit to the adjacent RAF Cosford to visit the engineering facilities at the base.  If this is possible then delegates are advised that they will need to provide PASSPORT AND OTHER IDENTIFICATION.

The Brussels Experience
